Wicked Wednesday ATC - Anything Goes

My final creation of 2014 is for Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge blog. The title of the challenge this week is Anything Goes. Here is my creation using this awesome digital image from The Chubby Mermaid:

Now I am not particularly a cat person, but I love this image, only cool cats are patterned/doodled on like this and have wings etc. 

The cat is colored with prisma color pencils and white gel pen accents added. The ground was stamped with animal footprints in pale grey and then the 'meow' letters stamped individually. The edges of the paper was torn. The background is canvas, sprayed with various pink and purple dylusions sprays, a word stencil added and sprayed with white dylusions. Love how it absorbs the background colors.

Eccentric chubby mermaid ?

I love the detail in the images by The Chubby Mermaid, they are so fun and saucy :)

Here is a postcard I made using Alice in Waterland II :

 I cracked open the big box of prisma color pencils for this project, Oh they are sooo lovely. She is colored exclusively in prisma, just a little black india ink pen for a few details :) Isn't she sweet. Her hair is actually a mixture of brown and metallic gold, but its maybe a bit hard to see in the pic.

 The background was done with gesso, which I textures and then colored with gelato's, a layer of gel medium then I sponged with brown distress ink to pick out some of the background detail. I added some white acrylic splodges and my wording, using two different alphabet sets. The wording is meant to be a little flamboyant, because she obviously is, sitting there in her teacup with all her favorite items around her.

Monochromatic ...

What a fun challenge it is to make a monochromatic project. I just love these Chubby Mermaid images, from The Sailing Pineapple. This is 'Queen of Hearts' : 

I used all of my grey copics to color her.  It was in fact a grey-copics party (lol) and they all had fun, my warm, cold, tonal and neutral greys :) She was fussy cut after coloring. See how beautiful she is :

My background was made using torn pieces of grey paper, stuck down with gel medium. I roughly covered the whole 6 x 4.25 postcard in gel medium. I then colored molding paste with paynes grey acrylic paint, and applied it through a heart stencil. When it was dry I went over everything with a grey wash. Then outlined the hearts and edge with my inktense charcoal grey. 

I adhered Queen of Hearts with dimensionals, added my sentiment and it was done :) I was really happy with how it worked out. It is quite the challenge to work in one color/tone of color. It really makes you think.
