Mail Art !

Morning all :) Today I wanted to share some mail art I created using a home made envelope.

I have an envelope maker and often use this instead of store bought plain white envelopes. Its so fun to use old magazines, since the background has already been started. I added a couple of stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps! to the envelope and some sponging and doodling :

The Spinning Swing Ride stamped on the left, isnt it great, and perfect for some 'Air Mail' LOL.

I also used Admit one ticket, which I stamped and fussy cut and added on. I did some background stamping with bulls eye target stamps and added a label for the address.

This is my last creation for the Viva Las VegaStamps! DT, but I will be sticking around in the Facebook group facilitating the trades, if you would like to come and join us :)

Hugs, Nikki x

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is this weeks challenge at Wicked Wednesday, sponsored by Lacy Sunshine. The image is called Roasted Marshmallows :

She is coloured with copics and wink of stellar pen and I used oval dies to cut her out and a resist paper, sponged in grey for the background.

Words are typed on my typewriter. When we camp its s'mores every night, I hope she enjoys them as much as we do :)

Jester ATCs

Today I want to share some Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) I made using the Jester Square from Carmen's Veranda. There is a Hip to be Square challenge at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity, daily inspiration .. check it out :)

The wording 'Cracking Up' (as in laughing uncontrollably) accompanies the jester - well at least I hope he's funny, being such a great court entertainer.

So many techniques in these three little 2.5" x 3.5" ATCs. The background is sprayed with Lindys Stamp Gang sprays, then I stamped in a combination of black and brown archival ink. Some images I then colored with markers, and black and white gel pen highlights. I then added a layer of crystal effects, followed by a layer of crackle glaze. When it was dry what I ended up with were really deep, large cracks :
The letters were die cut, sponged with distress ink and glued on. I added layers of card stock and knotted twine. To emphasize the humorous side of this ATC, I added a Ranger Embellishment and I wrote LOL (laugh out loud) on a circle then added crystal effects to the hole. I like how it stands up prominently.

The three ATC's were all slightly different, which is your favourite ?

Anthropomorphism

Wow, what an awesome challenge at Wicked Wednesday this week, sponsored by Miezo Digi Stamps. Isn't Digi Stamp Rose cute :

The background is made with a stencil and molding paste. The I colorised it with dylusions sprays, finally sponging some brown ink along the bottom and lightly around the edge.

The image is coloured with copics and gel pen, and fussy cut.

The sentiment was typed on my typewriter. I loved the sentiment .. It just came to me as I was carefully cutting around the roots. Roots and being grounded are so important arent they :)

Believe

Morning today I am sharing a card I made for the new challenge over at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity, Water color background. I really enjoy this look and it is complimentary to so many images. For my water colour effect background I have used nuance powders.

My card features one of the awesome new zentangle feather stamps, Zentangle Feather 1 from Lost Coast Designs :

The feather was stamped onto white card stock and fussy cut.

I used nuance powders in the background, in green and yellow, then stamped the feather stamp without reinking it, so it gives a light, shadow effect.

I added the twine, buttons and white embellishments and stamped the word 'Believe' from the Misc Words stamp set. I sponged lightly around the card, and the final touch was to matt the decorated card onto a white card base.

I really like this zentangle feather, especially how the traditional black and white zentangle pops off the colored background.

Giddy Up

This weeks sponsor at Wicked Wednesday is Polkadoodles, and the theme is 'Things you might find at the beach' :

The image is coloured with copics and fussy cut.
The background is made with distress inks and acrylic paint.
I like the dark, light contrast, it really shows off this adorable image.

Swim Fast

I made a couple of cards, featuring one of the original stamps I bought from Viva Las VegaStamps! a number of years ago.... Diver from Board :

Isn't the diver great. I stamped him in memento black ink and colored him with copics and fussy cut him. I added some white gel pen highlights.

I wanted to create a splashy watery background for him, and this is how I accomplished that :

I used water color powders, sprinkling them onto my water color card stock :
Then I spritzed it with water :
and used a straw to blow the water around.

I love the richness and unpredictable effect you get, a perfect backdrop for my diver.

The words are typed on my typewriter. The card front is matted onto a blue card base.

I made two similar cards, although adapted one image so he's wearing a swim cap :
